The final whakapapa wānaka for the year was held at Puketeraki Marae on 3-4 October. The challenge of thinking about what whakapapa and history we want to see depicted inside our whare tupuna, Huirapa has highlighted the need for clarity and kōrero to support individual and whānau preferences.

The wānaka also reminded us of the need to continue to build our familiarity with the Ngāi Tahu migration stories and their inter-connectedness with all our whakapapa lines of Te Waipounamu. The 2016 wānaka series is being developed and information about it will be posted on the rūnaka website before the end of the year.
