On Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 of August, the Ellesmere Heritage Park Trust had an open day to showcase the progress of the park. The park is going to be similar to Ferrymead Park and will have pre-European scenes, such as the Te Waihora Lake and tangata whenua occupation, along with European settlement and agriculture through the years. Te Taumutu Rūnanga was well-displayed with photos and banners. Te Taumutu Rūnanga member, Fiona Sloan enjoyed showing visitors harakeke weaving.
