On Friday, 3 April-Monday, 6 April we will be holding a wānanga rangatahi at Te Tauraka Waka a Māui Marae. The wānanga will be free, with transport provided to and from Hokitika. However, costs to get rangatahi to Hokitika and home will need to be covered by their whānau.

Our wānanga will focus on Māhakitanga and include:

  • Mahinga kai practises in action
  • Learning the stories of our whare tīpuna
  • Outdoor leadership
  • Makaawhio/Kāi Tahu waiata.

Expressions of interest are currently being sought from interested secondary school-aged rangatahi (years nine to 13) so that we can get an idea of numbers. Early next month the enrolment packs will be sent out for completion and they will need to returned.

Send your name and contact details plus school and year level to [email protected] or phone 0800 955 007, or private message the Te Rūnanga o Makaawhio Facebook page.
