On Sunday 1 November, the descendants of Tukawhaha held a meeting at Takutai o Te Tītī Marae. In attendance were whānau from Sydney, Perth, the North Island and Te Waipounamu. The ages of whānau ranged from 91-years-young to 18-months old. The whakapapa of each line was acknowledged by the eldest in that line.

A number of people spoke of their knowledge of land and stories passed down over the years, which after a motion to form the Ahu Whenua Trust was tabled; one person from each line was nominated to represent their family line.

The meeting concluded with a suggestion that whānau get together again, which was well received by all. Nā Stuart Ogilvie.
