We recently celebrated Frank Meenan’s 40 years of service to New Zealand Post in style at Auckland’s Langham Hotel. The theme for the evening was ‘celebrating dedication’ and Pio Terei was the master of ceremonies.

Frank has always worked as a postie in Dunedin. Rain, snow, sunshine, he walks around 18-20 kilometres a day, six days a week.

“I look forward to seeing people who have become good friends. They wait for me at their letterbox, so I guess it works both ways. They tell me things they are unable to tell other people face to face, and for many of them I am the only person they talk to each day. So, for me that has been the most rewarding aspect of my work,” he says.

In honour of Frank’s service to New Zealand Post we would like to share this māori proverb:
Kī mai ki ahau he aha te mea nui o tēnei ao.
He tangata. He tangata. He tangata.
Ask me what is the most important thing in the world.
It is people. It is people. It is people.
