Kai Hau Kai is an art project initiated by Simon Kaan that invites Ngāi Tahu whānui to contribute short video clips of Mahinga Kai practices. Video clips include such things as sharing a meal, spearing patiki, plucking tītī, digging for cockles, singing a waiata, recording a conversation or recalling a memory. On Saturday 30 November in Christchurch Simon Kann ran an event that focused on exploring the concept of sharing of food, and its importance in creating and maintaining social and economic relationships.
